The Magic of Costa dei Trabocchi
Journey along Abruzzo's southern coastline, famous for its historic wooden fishing machines and pristine beaches.
The Costa dei Trabocchi is a stunning stretch of coastline in southern Abruzzo, named after the fascinating wooden fishing structures—Trabocchi—that dot the shoreline. Like giant spiders reaching into the Adriatic Sea, these historic structures were built to allow fishermen to catch fish without braving the open waters.
Today, many of these Trabocchi have been converted into unique, intimate seafood restaurants where you can dine suspended over the waves. The coastline itself is characterized by pebble beaches, hidden coves, and clear blue waters, backed by lush Mediterranean scrub.
The recently completed Via Verde, a cycling and walking path built on a former railway line, makes exploring this coastline easier and more beautiful than ever. It's a perfect blend of history, gastronomy, and seaside relaxation.
